HASLEMERE ART SOCIETY
Welcome to the Haslemere Art Society

The Haslemere Art Society supports amateur and professional artists to help build community and bring together those making art of any kind, promoting interest in the visual arts for the residents of Haslemere and the surrounding area. The Haslemere Art Society has a long history in Haslemere, it was founded in 1894 and has evolved into the thriving community of creatives it is today.
Our volunteers run a varied programme of workshops, demonstrations and talks with guest artists that are well-attended. The society also has regular groups that meet to create together. It seeks to support and bring together local creatives in painting, ceramics, glass, sculpture, textiles and many more.

Marty Farrer-Williams of Gallery Thirteen in Haslemere has taken on the role of Chair for HAS - here is part of his recent post from the December newsletter:
Hello to you all. Many of you already know me or have met me through the gallery, so I'll keep this short. I am honoured to have been asked to become chair of the Haslemere Art Society. When I moved up here 5 years ago, the Art Society was one of the first things I sought out and joined; the annual exhibition became my first in Surrey! I remember stewarding and how warm and welcoming everyone was to myself and my wife.
Fast forward five years, I have established myself in the area, gaining some great contacts and a physical location in the heart of Haslemere with Gallery Thirteen. As soon as I became a member and then subsequently joined the committee, I could see the advantages of the Art Society and the Gallery working together. Which is something I have been thinking about and planning long before I became Chair. Both the Society and the Gallery are aligned in their goals to nurture and promote local arts and crafts.
Having spent some time quietly understanding who’s part of the society, how it works and what people want from it. I have been able to start planning for the coming year, I am hoping to be inclusive of everyone from amateurs who like to paint and chat, to professional artists wanting support to further their careers.
